The woman said her husband had moved to California on Nov. 3 since their separation on Oct. 24. Before leaving for California, the brother allegedly gave the weapon to his brother.
On Nov. 25, the brother called his sister-in-law and said his car broke down on Broadway Avenue. He allegedly left the car there and when he returned to get, someone had broken into the car and stolen the gun.
The woman said her brother-in-law told her he would make a report, but the investigating officer couldn’t find the report. The woman wanted to make sure it was on record that the gun was stolen. The woman said she was going to Academy to try to get the serial number to the gun.
The brother-in-law lives in Pineville with his girlfriend.
