Jo Ann Lake, 46, 121 Shanghai St., was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 4 about 9 p.m. for allegedly stealing items from Wal-Mart, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
An employee with Loss Prevention told police he allegedly saw Lake taking items off of the shelves and placing them in bags.
She allegedly paid for some items but left without paying for the rest. The employee stopped Lake after she left the building. She allegedly had items valued at $851.30 in her shopping cart. The items included household goods and toys.
She was booked into the Rapides Parish Jail on charges of shoplifting, over $500. The report said Lakes kept asking to pay for the items instead of being arrested. She also asked if the officer would call Police Chief Darren Coutee “so he could help her.”
